An team of forensic experts from the European Union says the Yugoslav authorities have given it permission to conduct searches for possible mass graves on six sites in Kosovo.

The sites were chosen on the basis of information from international organisations present in the province during the fighting between Serbian forces and ethnic Albanian separatists earlier this year.

Both sides have made claims about mass killings of civilians, but these not been independently confirmed.
