Turkish parliament agrees to ex-PM probe

The Turkish Parliament has decided to begin an investigation into corruption allegations against the acting Prime Minister, Mesut Yilmaz.

Mr Yilmaz has denied the claims that led to his government being voted out of office on Wednesday.

But the BBC Ankara correspondent says the process could lead to charges being laid against Mr Yilmaz.

Meanwhile, the country's former Islamist Prime Minister, Necmettin Erbakan, has been acquitted of insulting the Constitutional Court.

The alleged slander took place in January after the Court outlawed Mr Erbakan's pro-Islamic Welfare Party and barred him from politics for five years.

Mr Erbakan, who was forced to resign as Prime Minister in June last year, could still be prosecuted for embezzlement and inciting hatred.
