Miss Israel wins Miss World contest

The forty-eighth Miss World contest has been won by Linor Abargail, a nineteen-year old representing Israel.

Miss France came second and Miss Malaysia third.

This year's event in the Seychelles had a new format designed to combat criticism that it's demeaning to women.

For the first time the contestants were shown on television playing sports and without make-up.
