Uzbek Foreign Minister in Pakistan

The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Abul Aziz Kamilov, has met a senior Taleban leader, Molvi Wakil Ahmad Muttawakil in the Pakistani capital Islamabad.

Mr Wakil Ahmad, told the BBC that he had asked the Uzbek minister to include the Taleban in a planned meeting on the Afghan conflict.

The meeting is expected to be attended by neighbouring countries as well as Russia and America, but the date for it has not yet been fixed.

Uzbekistan supports the anti-Taleban alliance in Afghanistan and considers the Taleban a security threat to the region.
