Mogadishu hospital re-opens

One of the main hospitals in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, has been officially re-opened -- three years after it was almost destroyed by factional fighting. The opening ceremony was attended by the faction leader, Ali Mahdi Mohammed, who earlier this year formed a joint administration for Mogadishu with his former rival, Hussein Aideed.

Correspondents say the re-opening of Medina hospital is one of the most tangible results so far of the new administration.

The hospital has been partly financed by local businessmen, who are also paying some of the salaries of the joint administration's police forces.
