Glitter, who was charged under his real name Paul Gadd, is accused of making and possessing 50 indecent photographs of children.

The glam rock legend faces a further four charges of indecent assault involving a young girl, and four other charges alleging serious sexual offences involving a girl.

The allegations date back as far as 1975.

Magistrates bailed him to stand trial at Bristol Crown Court, where a preliminary hearing will be held early next year.

Glitter, whose address was given as York Street, London, was released on bail.

The singer was first arrested almost a year ago after taking a computer for repair.
