Kendall heads for Spain

Howard Kendall - a highly-respected coach

Former Everton manager Howard Kendall is returning to Spanish football with Second Division Jerez.

Kendall had a successful spell with Athletic Bilbao in the 1980s and is set to join Jerez following talks with club officials last weekend.

"I like the place, the set-up and the people involved. Jerez are not a big club but they've convinced me that they have ambition. I am looking forward to this new challenge," he told The Express newspaper.

Kendall, who has also managed Manchester City and Sheffield United, has been out of work since his third spell at Everton ended last summer.
