Warne fined for umpire outburst

Shane Warne - eager to regain his Test place

Leg-spinner Shane Warne has been fined £900 by the Australian Cricket Board for publicly criticising an umpire.

He was found guilty of breaching the Board's code of conduct following comments he made at the end of Victoria's Sheffield Shield game against Western Australia earlier this month.

Victorian skipper Warne was unhappy with an lbw decision given by umpire Randolph Woolridge against batsman Graeme Vimpani.

"Everyone in the ground knew he hit it, bar him," he said.

Warne is currently playing for the state side to regain full fitness following surgery on his shoulder and hopes to return to the Australian Test team before the end of the Ashes series.
