Troops patrol riot-hit Indonesian town

Troops have been patrolling the streets of the eastern Indonesian town of Pinrang a day after thousands of people rioted in protest at the authorities' handling of an investment scandal.

Armed vehicles have been stationed in several key areas of the town, and some roads have been blocked to traffic.

Local officials say at least nine government buildings in Pinrang were set on fire during the riots on Wednesday.

Reports say the disturbances were sparked by anger at delays in repayments to people who had lost money to some local co-operatives.
