Bibi seeks broader base

Reports from Israel say the Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, has made a deal with the former Foreign Minister, David Levy, to bring him back into the Cabinet.

Mr Levy and four other members of his Gesher party left the government in January in a protest over budget negotiations and the deadlock in peace talks with the Palestinians.

Last week, many members of Mr Netanyahu's own coalition government voted against him in parliament over the latest peace accord.

Observers say the return of Mr Levy to the cabinet would reduce Mr Netanyahu's reliance on the far Right.

Mr Netanyahu, currently on a trip to Britain and Spain, is not expected to make any announcement until he returns to Israel on Sunday.
