A joint Estonian Finnish study says that cleaning up the pollution left behind in Estonia by Soviet -- and later Russian -- troops will cost about five billion US dollars.
The study quoted by the Russian Interfax news agency says Harju county, around the capital Tallinn, was found to be the most polluted.
Scientist say it could take decades to clean up contaminants such as rocket fuel, radioactive waste, petroleum and heavy metals left at military bases.
