Fulham ease through in Cup

Double trouble: Paul Peschisolido in his days at Stoke

Leigh RMI's dreams of pulling off a giant-killing shock on their own ground in their FA Cup replay against Division Two big-spenders Fulham were shattered by Paul Peschisolido.

The Canadian international striker dazzled the Unibond League side's defence as first he was scythed down as he dribbled through and converted the ensuing penalty himself on 32 minutes.

Dave Felgate, the goalkeeper whose heroics kept Leigh alive when they snatched a draw at Craven Cottage, nearly blocked the spot-kick - but he had no chance with the second nine minutes later as Peschisolido blasted home.

The Lambs of Tamworth from the Dr Martens League were led to a 4-1 slaughter in their replay at Third Division Exeter.

The home side were four ahead through a Tony Rowe own-goal after 15 minutes, two from Darran Rowbotham on 31 and 45 and Steve Flack on 51 before Gary Smith's consolation strike 15 minutes from time.

Late agony for Emley

Last year's FA Cup giant-killers Emley from the Unibond League were eight minutes from taking their replay at Rotherham into extra time when disaster struck.

They were holding the Division Three side at 1-1 - Lee Glover equalising for the Millers 27 minutes after Simeon Bambrook's first-minute strike - when Paul Hurst scored on 82 minutes and Darren Garner on 85 to seal a 3-1 win.

To make it worse the visitors finished with nine men after Mark Wilson was sent off seven minutes from time and Simon Jones five minutes later, both for a second bookable offence.

In the all-Third Division replay at Rochdale, the home side played the entire second half with 10 men after Paul Sparrow's dismissal for foul play but still beat Scarborough 2-0 with goals from Mark Monington and Ian Bryson.

No pitfalls for York

Ryman League side Enfield's long trip for their replay at York proved fruitless. The Second Division side eased home 2-1 with goals from Scott Jordan on 18 minutes and Richard Cresswell on 45.

Richard Dunwell had pulled one back for the visitors on 27 minutes but John Richardson's sending-off for a second bookable offence seven minutes into the second half sealed their fate.

The replay between Conference side Kidderminster and Third Division Plymouth was abandoned at half-time because of fog, while Second-Division Notts County against Hendon, from the Ryman League, was postponed before kick-off for the same reason.

Shoot-out denies Slough

Second Division Macclesfield dramatically scraped through their replay at Ryman League side Slough 9-8 on penalties after the teams were level 1-1 after extra time.

Ben Sedgemore opened the scoring for the visitors in the seventh minute before Kenny Hughes equalised for the non-League outfit seven minutes later.

Macclesfield then survived most of extra time with 10 men after the dismissal of Efetobore Sodje for a second bookable offence.

The replay at Northern League side West Auckland was won 5-3 on penalties by Yeovil from the Conference after they were tied 1-1 after extra time.

Jonathan Milroy had opened the scoring for the hosts on 61 minutes and Carl Dale levelled 11 minutes later.
