India and Pakistan to discuss power

A team of Indian officials will visit Islamabad later today Wednesday for talks about the possible export of Pakistani electricity to India.

Pakistani officials say the meeting will explore the feasibility of such a deal.

The BBC Islamabad correspondent says that one of the main uncertainties is the cost of building infrastructure needed to connect the two countries' power grids.

Pakistan says that if it's to make a large infrastructure investment it would want to be sure that electricity exports would continue for many years.
