During a visit to Britain, the Brazilian Finance Minister, Pedro Malan, has told British investors that his country's privatisation programme will go ahead as planned despite the resignation of the Communications Minister, Luiz Carlos Mendonça de Barros.

Mr Mendonca de Barros resigned two days ago following suggestions that he had attempted to influcence the sale of the state telecommunications company, Telebras, earlier this year.
