German embassy 'not target of Yemen bombing'

Yemeni Interior Ministry officials say a car bomb which exploded outside the German embassy in the capital, Sanaa, killing three people, was not aimed at the embassy.

They said the target was probably a tribal leader Sheikh Mohammad Bin-Shajah living nearby, whose house was damaged in the blast.

Search operations are underway to try to catch the attackers; no-one has admitted carrying out the bombing so far.

It killed a guard at the German embassy, a policeman and a child sitting in a nearby car.
