Hostel murder man in court

Ms Morrison regularly visited the hostel

A 26-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering a social worker who was stabbed at a hostel in London.

Anthony Joseph was arrested after Jenny Morrison, 51, from Wimbledon, was fatally injured during a pre-arranged visit to the "half-way house" in Balham on Monday.

He appeared at South Western Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Ms Morrison, who was single, and a mother and grandmother, was taken to St Georges Hospital, Tooting, where she was pronounced dead after an attack.

Her daughter, Tanya said: "She loved her job and devoted all her energies to it. She was extremely conscientious and would do anything for her clients.

"She was a loving mother and grandmother to my two children."

Ms Morrison's death has again brought into question the policy of psychiatric patients being treated in the community.
