Amnesty accuses both sides in Democratic Republic of Congo of atrocities

The human rights organisation, Amnesty International, has accused both sides in the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo of committing atrocities against unarmed civilians.

The report says that since the beginning of August this year, thousands have been massacred or raped, and accuses both sides of recruiting child soldiers.

Amnesty has appealed to foreign goverments to stop supplying weapons to the warring parties that could fuel further atrocities.
