Campaigning for state polls ends in India

Campaigning has ended for the assembly elections in the Indian states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Mizoram and the national capital, Delhi.

More than eighty million voters will be electing on Wednesday Nov 25th a little over six hundred representatives for the provincial assemblies.

Correspondents say the polls are seen as a test of the popularity of the Hindu nationalist BJP, which is at the head of the Indian federal coalition.

Corruption, price rises for basic commodoties and crime levels are seen as the major issues, especially in Delhi.
