Murdoch expands into continental Europe
The media magnate, Rupert Murdoch, has announced plans to extend his interests to continental Europe.
Mr Murdoch told a news conference in London that he had formed a new company, News Corp Europe, which would be based in Milan and would explore and manage media investments on the continent.
He said News Corp Europe was already in advanced discussions on a joint venture to develop Italian pay-TV.
Mr Murdoch said he wanted to build on the success of his satellite channel BSkyB, which dominates the pay-TV market in Britain.
