Monday, November 23, 1998 Published at 09:56 GMT World: Europe Yeltsin in hospital with pneumonia Amid continuing concern about the health of Boris Yeltsin, the Kremlin says the Russian president has been admitted to hospital in Moscow, suffering from pneumonia. Officials said he was admitted on Sunday and put on a course of antibiotics. A BBC correspondent in Moscow says the Kremlin is keen to convey the impression that it's business as usual, but our correspondent says officials have in the past concealed the true extent of the President's illnesses. Mr Yeltsin, who's sixty-seven, has suffered repeated chest infections since his heart bypass operation two years ago, and had a three-week lay-off last month to recover from what his doctors called nervous exhaustion. Our correspondent says Mr Yeltsin and his aides have made it clear that he's left the day-to-day running of the country to the Prime Minister, Yevgeni Primakov, but he is remaining in office to ensure a democratic transition when his term expires in the year 2000.
