Peers hold the first day of the Lords' debates on the Queen's Speech, concentrating on constitutional and legal affairs.

Trevor Baylis OBE, inventor of the wind-up radio, gives evidence to the Commons Science and Technology committee on how engineering companies decide on new products.

European Minister Joyce Quinn gives evidence to the Commons European Scrutiny committee on European legislation.


Non-parliamentary

Parliamentarian award The Parliamentarian of the Year awards are held at the Savoy Hotel in London. Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott is among those attending.

Pinochet The Law Lords are expected to deliver their judgement on whether Chile's General Augusto Pinochet has immunity from arrest and extradition.
