British teenager murdered in Benidorm

The teenager had recently moved near Benidorm

Spanish police have begun a murder inquiry after the body of a British teenager was found in a Costa Blanca holiday apartment.

The 19-year-old woman named so far only as Katheryn was found dead "with signs of violence" in Alfaz del Pi near Benidorm, police said.

Her body was found yesterday and was taken to Benidorm for a post mortem examination.

The Foreign Office has only confirmed that the woman is called Katheryn and her family from Leicestershire have been contacted.

Bar work

Police have said they looking for the woman's British boyfriend, who has gone missing, according to the Spanish news agency EFE.

The man, who lived with the murder victim, was named as Cameron by neighbours.

The woman, who is known as Katie, was discovered in their apartment by a woman friend who worked with her in a British bar in the area.

Katie, who had moved to the area two or three weeks ago, had been working in bars in Althea and Benidorm for two or three years.
