Student dies in holiday plunge
Split in Croatia
Robert Brooke had been spending the summer in Split.
A student from Norfolk has died after falling from the window of a hostel in a Croatian holiday resort.

Robert Brooke, 21, had been spending the summer with 26 other young Britons in the town of Split.

Croatian police are investigating how Mr Brooke came to fall from the seventh-floor dormitory on Wednesday.

They are not thought to be looking for anyone else in connection with his death.

Woman shocked

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "Mr Brooke's next of kin have been informed and consular staff are offering their assistance.

"We understand police are investigating the incident.

"But we are not aware of there being any suspicious circumstances."

Hostel manager Ante Marsic said an English woman asleep in the same room when Mr Brooke fell was being treated for shock.
