Accolades for brave boy
Krupal's father in the post office
Krupal's action saved his father from a serious attack
The son of a shopkeeper is getting a bravery award for scaring off two armed robbers who attacked his family's business.

Krupal Joshi, 12, managed to press a panic alarm at the Three Pots Post Office in Hinckley, Leicestershire, when the masked men entered the shop.

The police say his quick reaction saved his father from a much more serious attack.

Krupal is getting a commendation from the Leicestershire Police at a ceremony on Friday.

It was an horrific situation, but my son managed to save our lives

Deepak Joshi, father

"Four masked raiders came into the shop and my wife started screaming," Krupal's father Deepak said.

"They used a knife to hold my wife hostage and started beating me.

"My son, who was playing with his Gameboy, saw them attack me and pushed the panic button."

"It was an horrific situation, but my son managed to save our lives."

The shop has been attacked by robbers several times in the past year, and the family even considered closing the shop.

But support from the local community convinced him to keep the post office shop open.
