Pregnant woman kicked unconscious
A thief kicked a pregnant woman unconscious on her doorstep as she tried to stop him stealing her handbag.
The woman is in a stable condition in hospital after the attempted robbery at her home in Evesham, Worcestershire, at approximately 1020 BST on Wednesday. She was attacked after the man tried to grab her bag which was hanging by a hook just inside the front door of her house in West Street. When she recovered consciousness, the woman contacted police who immediately began to search the area for the man who had fled empty-handed. He is described as in his 40s, six feet tall with short black hair and olive skin. He spoke with a Birmingham accent and was wearing a red Manchester United top and possibly jeans. PC Phil Rushen, from West Mercia Police, said: "I would urge anyone who recognises the description of this man or thinks they may have seen someone matching his description to contact me as soon as possible. "This is a despicable crime whereby a pregnant woman has been callously knocked to the ground and kicked."
