One - hit wonderland
Over the years, Breakfast's viewers have witnessed some shocking revelations.

But none quite as disturbing as the dark secret shared by Tony Hawks and Newsnight's chief inquisitor, Jeremy Paxman.

It turns out that today wasn't Tony's first appearance on Breakfast.

He's actually been here before, in a previous life - as lead singer of a comic band, Morris Minor and the Majors.

And, the man who interviewed him was none other than the politicians' scourge, Jeremy Paxman.

Back in 1988, Paxman was a jobbing Breakfast presenter - although, even then, a certain note of incredulity is detectable in his voice.

Fourteen years on, Tony Hawks is still attempting to break into the charts.

But this time, his musical ambitions are far more limited.

He took on a bet, he explained on Breakfast this morning - a bet that he couldn't repeat his 1988 chart sucess, anywhere in the world.

And that challenge led him on a global odyssey, from Nashville to Albania, which is chronicled in his latest book, One hit Wonderland.

Tony told Breakfast how he ended up on tour in Albania with the man who's regarded as one of the country's comic heroes, the 87-year-old British comedian Norman Wisdom.

He tried hard not to reveal whether he succeeded in his goal, of getting a top twenty hit.

But he did say that there's a record producer somewhere in Britain who's going to be eating his hat (or at least a hat-shaped cake) before long.
