Andrew Rosindell
Date of birth 17 March 1966 Political profile Andrew Rosindell is a right-wing populist and formidable campaigner. He entered the Commons in 2001 as member for his home town of Romford after a local government career which saw him amass the highest Tory vote share in London at a ward election - 88%. At the general election, he recorded the highest swing to the Conservatives in the country. He has a talent for attracting publicity - he was famous for campaigning with his dog, Spike, whom he dressed in a union flag waistcoat. Spike passed away on St George's Day, 2002. His views also help him to get noticed. He is pro hanging and firearm ownership. He is anti-euro, left-wing judges and most asylum seekers, of whom he has said that "we need to keep them under lock and key". His memberships have included the Monday Club, from which he resigned in October 2001, and the Freedom Association. He has worked most recently as a director of the euro-sceptic European Foundation. He said that his victory proved "that Thatcherism is alive in Romford". Contact andrew@rosindell.com Constituency office 01708 766700
