Lorna Fitzsimons
Date of birth 6 August 1967 Political profile After her election in 1997, Lorna Fitzsimons was often marked out by the media as an archetypal "Blair Babe". She certainly fits some of the classic characteristics: she came in to Parliament from the Westminster village, where she worked as a lobbyist and was a long term member of the political classes, having been President of the NUS. She is also a loyal member of New Labour, and was rapidly promoted, currently being parliamentary private secretary to Leader of the House Robin Cook. She is a skilled political fixer and is chair of Labour's backbench women's committee plus a keen member of the Commons modernisation committee, a subject dear to her heart. She is seen as one of Labour's foremost supporters of the UK adopting the euro. Contact fitzsimonsl@parliament.uk Constituency office 01706 644911
