St Worm's Head
St Worm's Head is popular with holidaymakers
Police are continuing to investigate the death of a man whose body was found at a popular south west Wales tourist spot.

The man has been named as 44-year-old Robert Sheehan from Waunarlwydd in Swansea.

It is believed that he was a wheelchair user who may have fallen to his death from the clifftop.

The death is not being treated as suspicious. The coroner has been informed and a post mortem is due to be carried out.

The accident happened at Worm's Head on the Gower Peninsula at about 1540 BST on Tuesday.

Mr Sheehan's body was later recovered from the bottom of the cliff, next to his wheelchair.

A Swansea Coastguard spokesman said: "There was an incident on the clifftop when a wheelchair containing a male went over and landed on the beach.

The casualty was put in an air ambulance and airlifted to the beach car park.

He had earlier been spotted at the top of the peak, which is in the picturesque Rhossili area and is perched atop the sea at the tip of the Gower Peninsula.

A South Wales Police spokesman said that inquiries were continuing into the incident to establish the circumstances leading to the death.

An ambulance had attended the scene, but paramedics passed the case on to police.

Officers have also made an appeal for witnesses, or anyone in the area at the time, to come forward.

Those people were asked to telephone police on 01792 563 001.
