Star's brother gets road ban
Dunfermline Sheriff Court
Connery appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court
The brother of actor Sir Sean Connery was more than three times over the legal alcohol limit when his car was stopped by police, a court has heard.

Neil Connery, from Edinburgh, told the officers who stopped his Mercedes that he should not have travelled to Fife.

The 63-year-old was fined £500 and disqualified from driving for three years when he was sentenced on Tuesday.

Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard that Connery's car had been spotted by police in Inverkeithing at 0220 BST on 16 June.

Depute fiscal Jane Benson said: "He did not appear to be driving in a straight line and accordingly the officer signalled for him to stop."

Another officer was called and a test was taken, which proved positive.

'Full co-operation'

"When cautioned and charged with the offence, the accused responded: 'I should never have come over to Fife'," she added.

Connery's lawyer Marjorie Socha told Sheriff Stuart Forbes that her client had co-operated fully with police, admitting the offence immediately.

He pleaded guilty to drink driving when he appeared at the same court on 4 July.

Connery declined to comment as he left the court.
