Father guilty of murdering sons

Kyle was two months old when he died
A father has been convicted of murdering his two baby sons by suffocating them.

Ian Metcalfe, 34, of Locharbriggs, Dumfries, was found guilty of assaulting, suffocating and murdering three-month-old Kyle Metcalfe on 27 January, 1988.

He was also found guilty of assaulting, suffocating and murdering six-month-old Dylan Lockerbie on 12 March, 1996.

Metcalfe had denied all the charges throughout the trial, which began at the High Court in Edinburgh on 24 June.
