Men jailed over actress killing
Times Square, New York
The shootings happened near Times Square
Two men have been jailed for killing three people, including actress and dancer Jennifer Stahl during an apartment robbery in New York.

Sean Salley, 30, and Andre Smith, 31, were described as "violent and dangerous and selfish" by a judge at Manhattan's state Supreme Court after the murders in May 2001.

Stahl, 39, appeared as a dancer in the film Dirty Dancing, and starred in other movies Necropolis, Firehouse and I'm Your Man.

She was also a dancer in a number of Broadway shows.

Salley, of Buffalo, and Smith, of Irvington, New Jersey, were sentenced to between 120 years and life imprisonment for three counts of second-degree murder, four counts of robbery and two weapons counts.

They killed Stahl, Stephen King, 32, of Manhattan, and Charles "Trey" Helliwell, 36, of Boston, in a flat above the Carnegie Deli, near Times Square.

Two main prosecution witnesses were survivors, Rosemond Dane, 37, of the Virgin Islands, and Anthony Veader, 37, a hairdresser from Manhattan.

Police said Stahl had turned to selling marijuana, with $60,000 (£38,500) of drugs found in her apartment.

The two killers knew of her dealing and set out to rob her, they said.

Prosecutors said the victims were gagged with duct tape before being pushed face-down and shot.

Salley and Smith then robbed Stahl of about $800 (£510) of cash and 1.5lb (0.7kg) of marijuana.
