West Indies cricket tour crisis continues

West Indian cricket officials are continuing their efforts to resolve a dispute over pay and conditions which threatens the team's tour of South Africa.

The officials will meet the whole of the West Indian cricket team in London for a second day after yesterday's talks proved fruitless.

The head of the South African Cricket Board, Ali Bacher has stressed the importance of the tour to the development of the game in South Africa, and brought an appeal from President Mandela for it to be able to go ahead.
