Market terror condemned

The bombing was immediately condemned by the Palestinian leadership as Yasser Arafat convened an emergency meeting of his security advisers.

His spokesman said the aim of terrorist attacks was to destroy the peace process.

President Clinton said the only answer to today's act of criminal terror was for Israel and the Palestinians to remain committed to their peace agreement.

His remarks were echoed by France and Britain.
