Petric heads for Palace

Gordan Petric (left): ready to try his luck in England

Glasgow Rangers defender Gordan Petric has left Ibrox to join English First Division side Crystal Palace in a £300,000 deal.

The 29-year-old Yugoslav international has signed a three and a half year contract and follows former Rangers teammate Craig Moore to Selhurst Park.

Former England boss Terry Venables has undertaken a major shake-up of the Palace playing staff since taking over.

"We needed to bring in some players to strengthen the squad and Gordan falls into that category," he said.

Petric won two championship medals with Rangers but was allowed to leave as his contract was due to expire at the end of this season.
