Iain Coleman
Date of birth 18 January 1958 Political profile One of Labour's unexpected winners in 1997 who equally surprisingly retained his seat in 2001, Iain Coleman comes from a very political family (his brother is Ken Livingstone's housing adviser). Celebrated locally as an effective Leader of Hammersmith and Fulham council, he retains a strong interest in local government and especially London affairs. He has supported the Treasury's stance in its battle over Tube funding. His most notorious moment came when the comments of one of his former researchers, claiming he valued Arsenal football games above constituency engagements, were leaked to an outraged press.
