Thursday, November 5, 1998 Published at 23:02 GMT World: Americas Security Council condemns Iraq without threatening force The United Nations Security Council has unanimously adopted a new resolution condemning Iraq's decision to halt cooperation with UN weapons inspectors, but has stopped short of threatening military action. The new resolution echoes a similar statement last Saturday calling the Iraqi move a flagrant violation of earlier UN resolutions. It restates the Security Council's willingness to review the relationship between Iraq and the UN if co-operation with the weapons inspectors is restored. The BBC United Nations correspondent says it's an indication that the United States and Britain still favour a diplomatic solution.
