Mike lives in Australia

He normally lives on the other side of the world - but Michael Peschardt is also one of Breakfast's regular guest presenters.

Mike has been living in Sydney, as the BBC's Australia Correspondent for more than 12 years.

But each summer, he makes the trip back to London, to cover for absent colleagues on Breakfast.

Before his transfer Down Under, Mike was a London-based BBC Sport Correspondent.

After covering the last Ashes win in Australia (1986/87) and the America's Cup, he decided that it might not be a bad idea to live there.

He went for a year and has been there ever since. He's covered the Olympic Games, conflicts in South-East Asia and just about every kind of general news story the outback can throw at him.

Mike regularly returns to the UK to present Breakfast. He also has a regular slot on Up All Night, every Tuesday at 4.50am.
