Newsround presenter Rogers to go

Popular Children's BBC presenter Chris Rogers is leaving Newsround, the BBC has confirmed.

A spokeswoman said the BBC had decided two weeks ago not to renew Rogers' contract because of planned changes to the show.

But she denied newspaper reports that the 23-year-old, who was nominated for a Royal Television Society award for his foreign reports, had resigned because of a "shambles" at the long-running children's news programme.

Rogers was the youngest ever presenter of Newsround when he joined at the age of 19.
