Pakistani police kill four gunmen
The authorities in Pakistan say four armed men have been killed in an encounter with police near the city of Lahore.

They said a police patrol in the Shah Dara Town area had responded to gunfire from a car in which the men were travelling.

It had been heading towards Lahore from a village close to the Indian border.

The dead men have not been identified but correspondents say members of the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi Muslim militant group have been killed in Punjab in similar encounters in recent weeks.
