Remembrance Sunday live



On Remembrance Sunday, Queen Elizabeth II, on behalf of the nation, will lay a wreath of poppies at the Cenotaph war memorial in Whitehall, London.

World War 1:Special Section
The wreath is in memory of those who lost their lives in both world wars and in more recent conflicts.

Coverage begins live from 1030 - 1200 GMT on November 8.


The Bishop of London will conduct an act of worship at the cenotaph and at 1100 GMT there will be two minutes silence. This will be followed by the Royal British Legion march past of over 10,000 former servicemen and women.

This year is also the 80th anniversary of the end of World War I and special events are being held in commemoration. On Wednesday 11 November the Queen, French President Jacques Chirac, King Albert of Belgium and Irish President Mary McAleese will attend special 80th anniversary armistice ceremonies to be held in Paris and Ypres, the Belgian town where many thousands of men were killed during World War I.
