Windies sack captain Lara

The West Indies cricket captain, Brian Lara, and the vice-captain, Carl Hooper, have been sacked, after they refused to go on tour in South Africa in a dispute over pay.

The West Indies Cricket Board said the tour would be going ahead as scheduled next week without the two men, and selectors will be choosing their replacements.

Other West Indies cricketers who've so far refused to go to South Africa have been told a percentage of their tour fee will be deducted even if they turn up.

The South African cricket authorities have backed the moves.
