£40m plans to rebuild complex
Fire at Center Parcs, Elveden, Suffolk
Smoke billows round the burning complex
Ambitious new plans have been announced to rebuild the Center Parcs complex in Suffolk which burned down three months ago.

A huge fire destroyed the central plaza of the holiday resort at Elveden on 4 April.

About 3,500 holidaymakers and 400 staff were forced to leave the complex as around 150 firefighters tackled the flames.

On Tuesday plans were unveiled for a rebuild which will cost £40m.

Fire at Center Parcs holiday resort in Suffolk
Nearly 4,000 people were moved to safety
The woodland complex has been empty since fire destroyed the central plaza, supermarkets, restaurants, shops and damaged the swimming pool.

Normally there are 6,000 visitors a week.

If planning permission is granted later this month, building work could start in August.

There will be new features including a piazza with Italian and Indian restaurants.

The central area with a village square will be divided by a water feature which will also act as a firebreak.

There will also be 50 new villas.

The company says it is an opportunity to rebuild and upgrade facilities.
