Alan Keen
Date of birth 25 November 1937 Political profile The Commons has become something of a family business for Alan Keen since he first entered the house in 1992. He now sits alongside his wife Ann, and his sister-in-law Sylvia Heal. He has hovered on the fringe of the party's old left, but speaks against government policy more often than he votes against it. He did join the rebellion over the part-privatisation of the National Air Traffic System (NATS). With a constituency close to Heathrow, he represents a large number of employees of the aviation industry. As a former football scout for his beloved Middlesbrough FC, he has been a successful member of the Culture, Media and Sport committee. Through the committee, he has been a strong critic of the administration of the National Lottery. Mr Keen is also chairman of the All-Party Football Group. He is also one of the leaders of the backbench campaign in favour of retaining First Past The Post for Westminster elections. Contact 020 7219 2819
