Andrew Miller
Andrew Miller

Date of birth

23 March 1949

Political profile

Andrew Miller is perhaps best known as the champion of his constituent Louise Woodward and her family.

But since his first election in 1992 he has established himself as one of the leading advocates of science and technology in the Commons.

A former official of the technicians' union MSF, he is highly computer literate and wants to make sure the public are not ignorant about scientific matters.

He is also interested in consumer protection issues and has campaigned for tougher laws against fake goods.

Mr Miller was appointed as parliamentary private secretary to Department of Trade and Industry ministers following the 2001 general election.
