Kenya's Moi visits massacre site

President Moi of Kenya has announced that he'll set up a commission of inquiry into the massacre outside the north-eastern town of Wajir the weekend before last.

He was speaking on a visit to the scene of the attack, in which more than a hundred members of an ethnic Somali tribe were killed.

Many people and animals are still missing after the attack.

A BBC correspondent travelling with President Moi says he received a cold reception, with local leaders complaining that the government had not done enough to track down the attackers.

In a separate development, a cabinet minister, Kipkali Kones, appeared before a commission on inquiry investigating previous ethnic clashes in Kenya.
