Indian state minister's son shot dead
The authorities in the northeastern Indian state of Meghalaya say five people, including the son of a state minister, have been killed in a rebel attack.

Police say Debojyoti Rabha who is the son of Meghalaya Forest and Environment Minister Munindro Rabha, was travelling in a jeep with friends when his vehicle came under fire.

Indian officials say one rebel was also killed, when police guards accompanying Mr Rabha fired back.

No organisation has said it carried out the attack, but Indian police say they suspect the involvement of the Achik National Volunteer Force, a group fighting for a separatist homeland for the Garo tribes near the border with Bangladesh.
