British MPs on Sri Lanka peace efforts

A British parliamentary delegation on a visit to Sri Lanka says Britain might consider a mediation role to end the conflict in Sri Lanka if the government in Colombo requests such help.

Members of the delegation called for confidence-building measures to bring together all parties involved in the conflict.

They said a starting point could be to convince the separatist Tamil Tiger leader, V Prabhakaran, that a separate Tamil homeland was not a possibility.
