Woman's body found on road
Warwickshire police badgy
Warwickshire police are asking for help
Police are appealing for help in identifying a woman whose body was found on a busy dual carriageway in Warwickshire.

The body was discovered near a footbridge over the southbound A444 near Bedworth at 1130 BST on Sunday.

The woman, who had extensive injuries, is thought to have been struck by at least one vehicle, a spokesman said.

Motorists who may not have realised that they had struck a body were urged to contact detectives.

'Open minded'

A post-mortem examination is being carried out to establish the cause of the woman's death.

The woman was white, aged between 20 and her early 30s, 5ft 6ins and of slim to medium build with short mousey brown hair.

She was wearing a purple cardigan with white trim, blue jeans, light blue socks, trainers and a white canvas belt.

She also had a tattoo at the base of her back.

Detective Inspector Peter Windridge said: "We are open-minded at this time as to how this woman came to be on the carriageway, although we believe she was on the footbridge over the road prior to her death."

The footbridge, known locally as Banana Bridge, is close to junction three of the M6.
