Harrelson taxi charges dropped
Woody Harrelson
Woody Harrelson starred in sitcom Cheers
Actor Woody Harrelson will not face charges after allegedly damaging a taxi during a night out in London.

The star, who is to make his West End debut later this year, has paid the cab driver for the repairs to the car and police have confirmed no further action will be taken.

Harrelson will appear with Kyle MacLachlan in the West End
Harrelson was due to answer bail conditions on Monday but cab driver Les Dartnell withdrew his complaint on Friday.

The actor paid £542.96 to the driver for repairs.

A man is alleged to have damaged the door lock mechanism and an ashtray in the cab following an incident in central London in June.

Dim barman

Harrelson is in London to rehearse for the upcoming play On An Average Day, in which he stars alongside Sex And The City star Kyle MacLachlan.

Harrelson first made his name in the US sitcom Cheers, playing the loveable but dim barman Woody, for which he won an Emmy award in 1990.

He went on to find success in Hollywood, appearing in Indecent Proposal, Natural Born Killers and The People vs. Larry Flynt.

But recently the film hits have not been as notable.

He was arrested in 1996 for planting four marijuana hemp seeds in Kentucky, USA.

He said he was challenging a state law that makes no distinction between marijuana and industrial hemp, even though hemp contains little of the drug found in marijuana and can be used to make a variety of products.
